Apa Itu Torsi Motor ?
Pada mesin kendaraan (pada umumnya) pembakaran dilakukan guna menghasilkan gaya. Gaya ini yang akan mendorong piston yang kemudian akan mendorong poros engkol ke jarak tertentu. Piston dan engkol tersebut akan menghasilkan gaya putar yang dikenal dengan istilah apa itu RPM (Revolution Per Minute) mesin.
Torsi merupakan hasil gaya yang dikalikan dengan jarak dan berhubungan erat dengan akselerasi. Satuan yang umumnya dipakai adalah NM atau Newton meter atau Kgm. Satuan pound feet juga sering digunakan untuk satuan torsi. Sebagai contoh, kendaraan offroad umumnya menawarkan torsi besar, karena memang lebih membutuhkan torsi daripada power “top speed” nya.
Semua kendaraan yang dipakai untuk mengangkut medan yang berat (kita kesampingkan dulu sepeda motor), maka dibutuhkan torsi besar.
Perlu dipahami bahwa torsi yang besar belum tentu kendaraan akan melaju dengan lebih cepat. Top speed berbeda dengan akselerasi, dimana akselerasi berkaitan erat dengan torsi sedangkan tenaga (power) berkaitan erat dengan kecepatan maksimum yang bisa dicapai. Karena bisa saja motor yang memiliki power besar akan dikalahkan dengan motor yang memiliki torsi besar pada tarikan awalnya hingga jarak tertentu kecepatannya sulit untuk bertambah. Lalu pada akhirnya motor bertenaga besarlah yang akan unggul.
Pemahaman Mengenai Torsi Motor
Torsi bisa pula Anda sebut sebagai gaya dorong yang dihasilkan oleh mesin dari posisi diam yang bisa jadi acuan dalam menilai performa kendaraan. Dengan demikian berarti besaran torsi bisa menggambarkan kemampuan mesin untuk menggerakkan kendaraan. jika torsinya semakin besar, maka akselerasi untuk mencapai kecepatan maksimalnya semakin baik.
Torsi sangat berperan di putaran mesin bawah saat motor anda melaju dari kondisi diam. Jika sebuah motor mampu melesat dari garis awal ke kecepatan tertentu dalam waktu singkat, bisa diartikan kendaraan tersebut memiliki torsi yang besar.
